The UFC’s No. 11 ranked welterweight, Carlos Ulberg, will replace the eliminated Khalil Rountree and face former division champion, Jamal Hill, on June 29 at UFC 303 in Las Vegas.
The bout was reported by the New Zealand Herald.
Carlos Ulberg, 33, is riding a six-fight win streak in the UFC, with five of those wins coming early. The New Zealand fighter last fought on May 11 at UFC on ESPN 56 in St. Louis, knocking out Alonzo Menifield in the 12th second of the match.
On April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas, 33-year-old Jamal Hill made a failed attempt to regain the UFC bantamweight championship belt with a first-round knockout loss to current titleholder Alex Pereira.
It was previously reported that Khalil Rountree, who failed a doping test, will be suspended for only two months. The short period of disqualification is explained by the fact that the American himself admitted to using banned substances once he discovered that the manufacturer of a sports supplement had mistakenly sent him a banned drug. Subsequent analysis of the doping sample confirmed that the steroid hormone dehydroepiandrosterone was indeed present in the fighter’s body, but its concentration was insignificant and could not affect Rountree’s physical condition.
