Jamahal Hill didn’t mince words in his final message to the Brazilian fans.
Hill and Teixeira met for the last time Friday, ahead of their UFC 283 matchup in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Hill weighed in at 204.. 5 pounds, takes on the hometown hero Teixeira, who weighed in at 205 pounds, for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title.
With the majority of people supporting Teixeira at ceremonial weigh ins, Hill gave one final warning to Teixeira and his countrymen about Saturday’s matchup.
” It’s an honour. I’m happy to share the cage with Glover Teixeira,” Hill said. Hill said, “Y’all are free to boo as much or little as you like, and y’all can all say what they want, but we’re all going. Tomorrow, I will still be there to entertain you. Y’all need to understand how I’m coming.”
Former UFC lightweight champion Teixeira is back in action at age 43 after his June title defeat to JiriProchazka, earning MMA Fighting its Fight of the year honors. Teixeira was all smiles as the Brazilian fans showered him with love.
“I’m ready, 100 percent prepared,” Teixeira said. “Tomorrow’s going to down .”
In their last faceoff before their fourth fight,
UFC 283 headliners Deiveson Fairedo (left) and Brandon Moreno (right), echoed the same messages.
Both flyweights tipped the scales at 125 pounds, and with their series tied at 1-1-1 after three meetings, UFC champion Figueiredo and interim champion Moreno are both ready to put the rivalry behind them ahead of UFC 283’s winner-take-all matchup.
“Tomorrow’s night is for you all,” Figueiredo stated to his Brazilian compatriots. “He’s not coming here and taking this belt. This is to give you all joy. If you have a dream, this belt can be yours too.”
“I don’t have a lot to say,” Moreno said. Enjoy tomorrow evening .”
The Jeunesse Arena, Rio de Janeiro Brazil hosts the UFC 283.
