Russian fighter Saigid Izagakhmaev (20-2) made his One Championship debut with a second-round submission victory over American James Nakashima (12-3). The fight took place in the weight category up to 77 kg. The tournament took place in Singapore.
After the fight, Izagakhmaev challenged MMA veterans Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki. “Hey Eddie, Aoki, I’ll kill you!” — said the 27-year-old fighter.
38-year-old Alvarez (30-8) is a former UFC and Bellator lightweight champion. Aoki is a Shooto, Dream and One champion (two times) and has also fought in Pride, Strikeforce and Bellator. On account of the 38-year-old Japanese 47 wins and 9 losses in MMA. Both have been performing since 2003.
Izagakhmaev’s second in the fight with Nakashima was supposed to be former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but he passed a positive test for coronavirus, after which he was quarantined.
