Israel Adesanya’s opponent has been confirmed

If Israel Adesanya does indeed compete at UFC 300, his opponent will be current UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis.

This was announced by UFC welterweight Michael Chiesa, whose business is handled by the South African fighter’s manager.

“I would love to see a fight between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis. We have the same agent with Dricus and now they are trying to organize a Dricus and Izzy fight. I know that in the last fight, Dricus hurt his leg and they seem to be working on a new contract,” the American said on another edition of the UFC LIVE program.

A few days earlier, former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, announced that he was going to take part in the anniversary event, which will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas and does not yet have a main event.

The Nigerian last stepped into the octagon last September, sensationally losing by unanimous decision to Sean Strickland and losing his championship belt. Du Plessis took the title two weeks ago when he defeated the American by split decision at UFC 297 in Toronto to become the division’s new champion.
