Former UFC middleweight title holder Israel Adesanya has explained why he agreed to an immediate rematch with Alex Perera, who took the UFC championship belt away from him after he beat him twice in kickboxing.
“I could avoid this guy, or wait for another guy, but that’s not my thing – I’m willing to take the risk!” Adesanya told The MacLife. “Fuck the belt, fuck everything else – I just have to beat him. This is my motivation and the main goal is just to beat him. People can say anything it’s 1-0 or 3-0. I don’t keep score – I just need a win and I’m going to do it.”
“He has the right to flaunt his success, and I have the opportunity to get even with him, but I’m going to talk less and do more. I bet he will move up to light heavyweight after this fight. Everyone has their ups and downs, but this is my chance and I’m ready to put it all on the line.”
Recall that the middleweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya will be the main event of the UFC 287 tournament, which will be held on April 8 in Miami.
