Israel Adesanya made a statement on the timeline for his return to the octagon

Another statement from Israel Adesanya casts doubt on whether the former UFC middleweight champion can compete at UFC 300, which takes place April 13 in Las Vegas.

According to the Nigerian, he is currently recovering from an injury and will not return to full training until late next month.

“When I get back in the gym and start training fully, it’s a new world with new energy,” Adesanya was quoted as saying by MMAnews. “It’s probably going to happen at the end of next month. Maybe a little earlier, considering how the recovery is going. We’ll see how it goes. Right now I’m in rehab and things are going well.”

Earlier, it was reported that a bantamweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya will headline the World’s Strongest League Anniversary event, which remains without a main event for now.

Alex Pereira took the UFC middleweight title from Israel Adesanya in November 2022, winning the fight by technical knockout in the fifth round, and last April, the Nigerian regained the championship belt by knocking out the Brazilian in the second round.

In September, Adesanya sensationally lost the title against Sean Strickland, while Pereira won a challenger fight against Jan Blachowicz as part of a welterweight title eliminator and then became the division’s new champion by finishing Jiri Prohazka by second-round technical knockout.
