Islam Makhachev’s team has agreed to fight Dustin Porier

By stopping dangerous French prospect Benoit St. Denis, Dustin Puryear has likely secured another title shot and could fight for the UFC lightweight championship belt as early as this summer.

This was announced by the manager of the current UFC champion, Ali Abdelaziz.

“Dustin Porier took a big risk tonight, came out victorious and looked amazing,” Abdelaziz wrote on social media. “Dustin vs Islam Makhachev in June, especially since everyone else has fights. If the UFC has nothing against it, then Islam is in.”

Earlier, Islam Makhachev celebrated “Diamond’s” victory, calling his performance very impressive, and UFC head, Dana White, speaking to reporters at a press conference, did not rule out that the American could get a title shot.

The lightweight fight between Dustin Porier and Benoit Saint-Denis, the second main event of UFC 299 in Miami, ended in a second-round knockout victory for the American, with both fighters receiving an additional $50,000 each as “Fight of the Night” participants.

Currently, Dustin Porier continues to be ranked third in the UFC lightweight rankings.
