Reigning UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, shared his opinion on the boxing match between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury, and did not rule out that in the future he may try his hand in the boxing ring following the example of the Cameroonian.
“Why not? Just to try – I would love to,” the Russian said in an interview with Match TV. “The Ngannou fight showed what level a professional fighter can reach by moving into boxing. There’s a lot of talk that Fury wasn’t ready, but it was a fight – who cares who’s ready and who’s not. Fury was knocked out and he showed boxing in a bad face. Talking about boxers and fighters fighting now, I think, is relevant.”
The ten-round boxing match between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury on October 28 in Riyadh went the full distance and ended with “The Gypsy King” winning by split decision, with the British boxer being knocked down in the third round.
A week earlier, Islam Makhachev made a successful title defense at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, knocking out Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the first round.
