Islam Makhachev’s next three fights have been announced

Islam Makhachev’s trainer, Javier Mendes, expects the reigning UFC lightweight champion to make two more title defenses before moving up to welterweight.

“I hope that after Ramadan, the UFC will organize a fight for Islam at Madison Square Garden because it will be good for him to fight in the U.S.,” MMAFigting quoted the American specialist as saying. “I’m sure the UFC will announce his return soon, but it won’t happen right away. Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, and then the welterweight title are my next three fights for Islam.”

Earlier it was reported that the world’s strongest league tried to schedule a welterweight superfight between Islam Makhachev and Leon Edwards as the main event of UFC 300, however, the organization failed to realize this scenario.

As for Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira, they have yet to win their next fights, which will take place on April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas. The American will defend the BMF belt against his compatriot Max Holloway at the anniversary event, while the Brazilian will share the octagon with Russian Arman Tsarukyan.
