Islam Makhachev turned to potential rivals

Reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, who successfully defended his title against Australian Alexander Volkanovski ten days ago, wants to know who will be his next opponent.

“Who is next?” the Russian fighter wrote on the social network.

The day before, in an interview with Match-TV, Islam Makhachev announced that he was ready both to defend his championship belt, including in a rematch with Volkanovski, and to rise to welterweight to meet the winner of the title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, who will headline UFC 286 in London on March 18.

“If the UFC gives me such an opportunity, I will gladly accept,” said the UFC champion.

Recall that the fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, who headed the UFC 284 tournament in Perth on February 11, went the whole distance and ended with the victory of the Russian by unanimous decision.
