Islam Makhachev reacted to the fight between Edwards and Covington

Reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev wants to see his next opponent British Leon Edwards, who successfully defended his welterweight title in the main event of UFC 296 by defeating American Colby Covington by unanimous decision.

“I’m going to finish both of these guys,” the Russian wrote on social media after the fight.

“Leon should be next,” he added in the published video. “This fight was complete nonsense. We have to change the champion.”

A few hours earlier, the UFC champion spoke about his meeting with the head of the organization, Dana White, making it clear that news on his next fight would be coming soon.

“We saw Dana White yesterday, had a good talk,” Makhachev stated. “We sat down, had a good talk, not only about me, but in general, in general about MMA. There is no certainty yet, but I think there will be news soon”

In a recent interview, the Russian fighter said he is ready to return to the octagon on March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami.
