Islam Makhachev made a statement about the fight with Conor McGregor

Reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, who will share the octagon with Dustin Puryear in two and a half weeks, is ready to make his next title defense against Conor McGregor if the Irishman manages to pull off a win over Michael Chandler.

The Russian fighter said this on the next edition of the joint podcast of Henry Sejudo and Kamaru Usman.

“Why not? It would be stupid to refuse something like that,” Makhachev stated. “Of course, I will fight Conor.”

At the same time, the Russian does not refuse a fight with Arman Tsarukyan, and is ready to meet McGregor before he goes out to fight his compatriot.

“When is my next fight? October or November? I could fight McGregor in August or September. That guy is not the same as he used to be. I don’t want to talk bad about him, but everybody knows it – he’s not what he used to be.”

“Yes, when he fought Khabib, he was in good shape, he was a high level fighter, but now, after abusing alcohol, whiskey, he’s not the same Conor”

Recall that the lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Porier on June 1 will headline UFC 302 in Newark, and the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will be the main event of UFC 303, which will take place June 29 in Las Vegas.
