Islam Makhachev has issued an ultimatum to the UFC

Reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has made it clear that if he is not scheduled to fight next March, his return to the octagon will be pushed back a few months.

This the best fighter of the organization regardless of weight category told the leadership of the strongest league of the world in the social network.

“I’m ready to tear someone apart in March, or I’ll see you after Ramadan,” the Russian fighter wrote.

Earlier Islam Makhachev said that he would like to take part in the UFC 299 tournament, which will be held on March 9 in Miami. It’s also possible that the Russian’s fight could headline the UFC’s debut event in Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled for March 2. Both tournaments will take place before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which next year runs from March 10 to April 9.

After winning the vacant UFC lightweight championship belt against Charles Oliveira last October, 32-year-old Islam Makhachev defended his title twice this year, winning a unanimous decision over Alexander Volkanovski and then knocking out the Australian in a rematch.

The Russian’s potential opponents include top lightweights Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Arman Tsarukian, and current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
