Islam Makhachev explained the fight with Dustin Puryear

Reigning UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, explained why he agreed to fight Dustin Puryear, who put his career back on track with a successful knockout of Benoit St. Denis this past weekend.

The corresponding question to the Russian was asked in the social network by one of the fans.

“Bro, Justin just knocked him out. Why not fight the guy who knocked out Puryear or wait for the winner of the fight between Arman and Oliveira? Both deserve it more than Dustin,” the fan wrote.

“Just want to fight, bro, I don’t want to wait anymore,” Makhachev replied.

Earlier, Islam Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, asked the UFC to organize his ward’s fight with the American, after which the two fighters agreed to share the octagon in June.

Dustin Porier is currently ranked third in the UFC lightweight rankings, but the fighters ahead of him have already been announced as participants in the UFC 300 anniversary event. Charles Oliveira will face the division’s number four Arman Tsarukyan at the anniversary event, while Justin Gaethje will make his BMF title defense against Max Holloway on April 13.
