UFC 259 tournament bout

The upcoming UFC 259 tournament promises to be a grand event, as three title fights will take place at once in the night in Las Vegas (USA) on the night from Saturday to Sunday.

The UFC 259 main event, which sees light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz take on middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, is getting the majority of the fan’s attention. But besides this, the card has a whole bunch of interesting fights.

The main card will feature a lightweight bout between Islam Makhachev and Drew Dober.

Friend and teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov Makhachev did not compete in 2020, first due to the pandemic and then due to COVID-19, which led to the cancellation of his fight with Rafael dos Anjos. Makhachev last entered the cage back in September 2019, when he defeated Davy Ramos by unanimous decision, which was his sixth UFC win in a row.

Dober is also on a winning streak. He has not competed since May 2020, having knocked out Alexander Hernandez in the second round. Two of his previous rivals – Marco Polo Reyes and Nasrat Hakparast – Dober also knocked out.

Prediction for the fight

Makhachev is a versatile fighter with excellent skills both on the stand and on the ground, has good defense against takedowns, is fast and mobile.

Dober is a puncher, very dangerous on the stand, but he has problems on the ground – he suffered his last three defeats in the UFC by submissions.

If Makhachev does not take risks and exchange with an opponent, then due to his class and technique, he can interrupt Dober on his feet. On the ground, the advantage of the Russian is undeniable; on the ground, Makhachev will have good chances for an early victory both with the help of strikes and with the help of a reception. We predict that Dober will not allow himself to finish, and Makhachev will win a third consecutive victory by a unanimous verdict.

Estimated start of the battle 06:30 Kyiv time, March 7.
