Islam Makhachev does not believe in the fight between McGregor and Chandler

The current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, does not believe that the coaching confrontation between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler on the set of the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter will end with a meeting of fighters in the octagon.

“They seem to be going to fight, but at the moment the fight has not been officially announced,” the Russian said in an interview with John McCarthy and Josh Thomson. “I don’t believe that Conor really wants to fight him because he drinks a lot, smokes all the time. He’s on the set of TUF to create some buzz, to get attention, to do something interesting, because everyone forgot about him. I don’t even remember when was the last time he fought?”

Makhachev also commented on the statement of the UFC President that the coaching fight between McGregor and Chandler will take place in lightweight.

“If they do fight, it will be welterweight. Maybe if he beats Chandler they will try to get him to go lightweight – I know they want to give him a title shot.”

Recall that the first episode of the next season of TUF with the participation of Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will be shown on ESPN on May 30, and the final episode will be released on August 15.
