The current holder of the UFC lightweight title, Islam Makhachev, commented on the rumors that his superfight with Alexander Volkanovski will be insured by former division champion Charles Oliveira.
“I just found out that Xabi Leim will be the alternate participant in the main event of the UFC 284 tournament,” the Russian fighter wrote on the social network, posting a joint photo with a popular Italian blogger.
Earlier, Charles Oliveira announced on social networks that he was flying to Australia for the fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, accompanying the photo of the tickets with the phrase “everything is by the will of God.”
Representatives of the UFC did not make any official statements on this matter.
Recall that the title superfight in lightweight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski will be the main event of the UFC 284 tournament, which will be held February 11 in Perth.
