Islam Makhachev and Khabib reacted to the victory of Usman Nurmagomedov

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and current title holder Islam Makhachev commented on the success of their friend and sparring partner Usman Nurmagomedov, who successfully defended the championship belt at Bellator 292 in San Jose and advanced to the Grand Prix semi-finals lightweights, having dealt with ex-UFC and WEC champion Benson Henderson in the first round.

“Congratulations, champion, you deserve it!” Makhachev wrote on the social network, posting a joint photo with the Bellator champion.

“The worst thing is that there are only 24 years old,” wrote Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Bellator champion also shared his emotions after the fight.

“We are just getting started. Thank you all for your support – see you soon,” Nurmagomedov wrote. “Most of all I am glad that I am taking my belt to Dagestan, and I will put it on my father’s shoulder. Big Barkal to everyone who was sick and worried. Lots of work ahead!”

Recall that the title fight in lightweight, which led the event, ended at around 2:37 of the first round with the victory of the Russian fighter by rear naked choke.

Usman Nurmagomedov’s opponent in the Grand Prix semi-finals will be determined on May 12 in the duel between Brent Primus and Mansour Barnaui.
