At the event, Vasily gave
interview for the American news portal, where he spoke about Usyk’s charity evening, the revenge of Haney – Kambosos, the WBO welterweight champion (up to 66.7 kg) American Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) and the WBC super flyweight champion (up to 52.2 kg) from USA Jesse Rodriguez (17-0, 11 KOs).

“This is a big event for us, because he supports a lot of people in Ukraine, he supports our country, he provided a lot of help to our country. So we can’t wait for this event to start.

It’s hard for me to explain this to you in English because my English is limited. But you know, this is a terrible time for our country. Of course, we all want to stop this war. I don’t want to see a lot of people die. That’s why we draw attention to it.

You know, I like his style. I like his IQ in boxing and I like his strength. He knows when he needs to throw a hard punch. He has a very high boxing IQ. That’s why I consider it the best.
– You once said that Roy Jones Jr. is your favorite fighter in history. How old were you when you watched Roy Jones?
“I was eight or nine years old. When I was six, my favorite fighter was Mike Tyson, but as I got older I fell in love with Roy Jones Jr and his style.
– You are now in a position where the young are kind of running out of you. You’ve sparred with Shakur Stevenson and others… Do you feel like you’re being hunted right now? Do you feel pressure from these young guys?
No, I don’t feel pressure. I think our division is now the most interesting in the world. There are a lot of top fighters in this weight category. Of course, we need to fight each other, and after that we will find out who is the best.
