In terms of skill, he is in the top 5 pound – top promoter praises Edwards

On November 11 in Sheffield (England), the IBF world champion in the flyweight (up to 50.8 kg) Briton Sunny Edwards (18-0, 4 KOs) will hold his third title defense. The opponent will be the ex-owner of a similar title in the category below the Nicaraguan Felix Alvarado (38-2, 33 KOs), who won 20 previous fights.

Leading up to the event, Probellum’s promoter Richard Schafer wasn’t stingy with flattering words about Sunny.

“His ability to slip punches is top notch in any weight class and in terms of skill I would put Edwards in the top 5 pound-for-pound today. That’s how good he is, says Schafer. “His skills and will to win, combined with his confidence and attitude, make him a tough nut to crack.”

Edwards, 26, won the title in the spring of 2021, dethroning longtime South African champion Moruti Mthalane. In the first defense, Sunny defeated Filipino Jason Mum, in the second – Pakistani Muhammad Wasim. At the same time, both fights took place in the UAE and ended in favor of the British on UD 12 points.
