The mayor of the Brazilian city of Borba, Simão Peixoto, and his former adviser, and now a member of the country’s parliament, Erineu da Silva fought under the rules of MMA after disagreements arose between them over the fate of the city park.
Silva spoke out harshly about the mayor’s failure to keep the park by the river. Peixoto responded by posting a video where he hits his palm with his fist, demonstrating his readiness to fight. Some voters condemned the video, and then the mayor assured the citizens that he would only participate in a duel with the rules, and challenged de Silva to a fight – with a referee in a cage and with fans in the stands.
The fight took place in the gym of the local school and was broadcast live. After three rounds, Peixoto won on points.
