Ilia Topuria named the condition of the fight with Movsar Yevloyev

New UFC featherweight champion Elijah Topuria, who took the title from Alexander Volkanovski, doesn’t think the division’s number five, Movsar Yevloyev, currently deserves a fight with him.

“Movsar is a good fight for me, I would like to fight him, but this guy has eight fights in the UFC, eight decision victories,” Topuria said at the press conference following UFC 298. “Zero submissions, zero knockouts, and of those eight decision victories, four of them were split decisions. Are you guys serious? He’s got to finish somebody at least. If you look at his record, yeah – he looks beautiful, he has no losses, but he hasn’t finished anybody, he needs to do something about it.”

The Russian fighter, who earlier promised to take the belt away from the new champion, did not ignore the statement of his potential rival.

“I’ll win from you by decision, too,” Yevloyev replied on the social network.

The title fight between Alex Volkanovski and Elijah Topuria, headlined the organization’s numbered event in Anaheim, ended with the Spanish-Georgian fighter winning by knockout in the second round, while Movsar Yevloev picked up his eighth UFC victory in January, winning by unanimous decision over Brit Arnold Allen.
