UFC 277 tournament bout

The fight will take place on July 31 in Dallas (Texas, USA) at the American Airlines Center and will be part of the UFC 277 early preliminary card. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.

Ukrainian light heavyweight Igor Poterya (19-2) will make his UFC debut against Romanian colleague Nicolae Nigumereanu (12-1).

Lose was the Ukrainian WWFC middleweight champion but then decided to move up to the light heavyweight division and in September 2021 he traveled to Las Vegas to fight for a UFC contract at Dana White’s Contender Series. In that fight, the Ukrainian knocked out the unbeaten Lukasz Sudolski in the first round and joined the UFC roster.

Nigumereanu made his UFC debut in March 2019 with a points loss to Saparbek Safarov. Since then, the Romanians have only been winning. He went through a split decision to Alex Kamura, quickly knocked out Ike Villanueva, and in early March at UFC 272 defeated Kennedy Nzechukwu again by a split decision. Although Nigumereanu was originally supposed to fight Loss at UFC 272, Igor was unable to fight due to Russian military aggression in Ukraine.

Prediction for the fight

In terms of experience and the level of opposition, Loss, of course, is much inferior to its counterpart. Both fighters have pronounced finishing skills both in the stand and on the surface. Therefore, the chances of an early denouement here are very high.

Loss is a decent striker with knockout power, however the Romanian fighter may have a slight advantage in the stance. Therefore, we believe that Loss will try to build on his success on the ground, where he probably looks more preferable, and eventually finish Nigumeryan. We see that the newcomer of the promotion has a great opportunity to break into the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
