Ian Garry’s wife tried to organize an attack on Khamzat Chimaev

Perhaps the reigning UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, wasn’t so wrong in advising Ian Machado Garry to run away from his wife before it’s too late.

According to the Irishman, Leila Anna-Lee, 40, once tried to provoke him into a fight with Khamzat Chimaev, who not only gave no reason for it, but was with his spouse at the time.

The incident occurred last April the day before the UFC 273 event, which saw Chimaev win by unanimous decision over Gilbert Burns and Garry defeat Darian Weeks by decision.

“I’ll tell you a funny story about Hamzat,” the 26-year-old welterweight told MMA On Point. “My wife and I got in the elevator, pressed the button, and then the door opens and Hamzat and his wife-in-law walks in. At this point, my wife is staring at me out of her skull with her eyes bulging, and kind of showing me, ‘go ahead and fight him'”

“I’d love to fight him in the elevator – that would be a really cool story, but I have the thought running through my head that he’s fighting my teammate tomorrow, and I can’t disrupt their fight. Besides, there are two women here, and we’re going to fight to the death. Finally, we got off the elevator and my wife looked at me and said, ‘You’re such a pussy'”

Recall that a few days earlier, Ian Machado Garry promised to sue Sean Strickland, who called his wife a succubus, and also pointed to the fact that the Irish fighter took the surname of Leyla’s former spouse Anna-Lee, who lives with them.
