Ian Garry's wife tried to organize an assassination attempt against Khamzat Chimaev

Perhaps current UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland wasn’t so wrong in advising Ian Machado Garry to run away from his wife before it was too late.

According to the Irishman, 40-year-old Leila Anna-Lee once tried to provoke him into a fight with Khamzat Chimaev, who not only gave no reason to do so, but was with his spouse at the time.

The incident occurred last April, one day before the UFC 273 event, in which Chimaev won by unanimous decision over Gilbert Burns and Garry defeated Darian Weeks by decision.

“I’ll tell you a funny story about Hamzat,” the 26-year-old welterweight told MMA On Point. “My wife and I get in the elevator, push the button and then the door opens and Hamzat and his mother-in-law walk in. At that point, my wife looks at me wild-eyed and says, ‘go ahead and fight him.'”

“I would love to fight him in the elevator, it would be a really cool story, but it crosses my mind that he’s going to fight my teammate tomorrow and I can’t interrupt his fight. Besides, there are two women here and we are going to fight to the death. At the end, we get out of the elevator and my wife looks at me and says, ‘You’re such a pussy.'”

Recall that a few days earlier, Ian Machado Garry vowed to sue Sean Strickland, who called his wife a succubus, and also pointed to the fact that the Irish boxer took the last name of Anna-Lee, Leyla’s ex-spouse, who lives with them.
