“I will knock out Lomachenko!” Ortiz swinging his fists after a fight

So far, the ex-champion in three categories from Belgorod-Dnestrovsky Vasily Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs)
promotes dying pockets of Russian influence in Ukraine, his former opponent, American lightweight fighter (up to 61.2 kg) Jemaine Ortiz (16-1-1, 8 KOs) does not let up.

The American is haunted by the episode in the second round of their last duel. Jemaine is very sorry for the missed opportunity to end the fight ahead of schedule. Ortiz
threatens knock out Lomachenko in a rematch.

– If you get a chance for a rematch with Lomachenko, what would you do differently?

“I would have knocked him out.

— [смеётся] How would you guarantee a knockout? Everyone wants to win by knockout because that’s the only way to make sure you don’t lose.

– Yes. But I knew… It’s crazy to say, but I had a dream – to knock him out before the fifth round. And when I rewatched the fight… I think in the second round I caught him with a check-hook. I knew he was shocked. And not only at the time when I was reviewing. I knew in the fight that he was a little shaken.

He did not go forward, he left me, he began to wind circles. He doesn’t do that in his fights. He is always balanced, always good in his stance. He knows how to get away, to run away, but the way he started to act after the check-hook in the second round … If I had realized at that moment how I caught him, I would have jumped on him, and my dream would have become a reality. But like I said, I was super confident. I knew Lomachenko was too small for that weight. It’s hard to say because he’s beaten a lot of great fighters in this division and he’s got a good number of fights here. But I know if there is a rematch, I will knock him out!

Earlier, Jemaine Ortiz named the favorite in the Haney-Lomachenko fight.
