American Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) is aiming for a unique achievement – he dreams of becoming the absolute world champion in three weight categories. Crawford already has all the light welterweight belts to his credit. And the fighter is confident that by the end of the year he will have the opportunity to repeat his success in the welterweight limit.
The thing is that negotiations are already in full swing for a face-to-face fight between the two owners of all belts in 66.7 kg Crawford and his compatriot Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs). Terence, who holds the WBO belt, is sure that
the fight will take place very soon: “I’m 100% sure of it. This, of course, is disturbing. I can’t wait until we sign the contract. All my life I’ve been waiting for this moment. And here he is.”
Crawford was often accused of being too lazy to work on camera during the promotion of the fight. Champion explains: “I just always wanted to be myself. I didn’t want to be like all those who act like idiots on camera. I don’t like the ones who act like lunatics in an attempt to become a superstar. I have always believed that my talent and my skills speak for themselves. I’m not a very bright character outside of the ring, but in the ring it’s different. But that’s what people pay for: for the fights, for the spectacle they get when we get in the ring. Yes, some pay to see the kind of life we live. But this is not my case. I won’t say that I’m bored. It’s just that my life is my own business.”
The other day, American Jermell Charlo won all the titles in the light middleweight division. Crawford claims he is his next target: “I mean exactly what I said. Once I beat Spence, I’ll come get Charlo. Unless he runs away and hides a division higher. I didn’t watch his fight with Brian Castaño, but I want to sincerely congratulate him on his victory. Dude, now you’re on my list. It has only two names – Spence and Charlo. Spence number one.”
Terence’s coach has no doubt that Crawford will beat the crap out of Spence, but another top coach thinks otherwise: “Bud” has no chance against an Errol like that. Spence, by the way, also claims that the fight will take place: “We will fight Crawford!”
