Former world champion title holder in light heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg) Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk
interview for the YouTube channel “Boxing Studio of Victor Yalymov” commented on the upcoming third fight on September 17 between the absolute champion of the second middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) and the unified middleweight champion (up to 72 .6 kg) by Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs).

Alexander also spoke about the fight of the “super champion” light heavyweight Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) against former US champion Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs), which is scheduled for November 5.

– Canelo – Golovkin 3, the topic under discussion, everyone is waiting. Can you say something about this fight, identify the favorite and give your prediction?

– An interesting fight. Two great opponents, two great fighters, both of whom I really like, despite their internal feud. It’s interesting here. Gena is already 40 years old, and despite the bright performance with Murata, Gena is not getting better. It seems to me. And already some such variants of rustiness were seen even with the same Murata. Alvarez is the opposite. Here, too, how it will be for him. It seems to me that the defeat of Bivolu is unlikely to break him. That is, it was not some kind of knockout, something else. Maybe for Canelo it will be like a cold shower. So it’s an interesting fight. I will root for the strongest, but I’m probably leaning towards Canelo’s victory on points. I think we will see something similar to what we saw in the first two fights. For both of them, this is essential. Gena will definitely not give up, Gena will definitely be ready, Gena will definitely be assembled. Canelo is the same. For him, the second defeat in a row is tantamount to the collapse of a career, one might say, or its significant decline. The highest stakes are at stake for both boxers in this case. Therefore, we will see an interesting fight. There will probably be an equally interesting fight in which Canelo raises his hand.

– Doesn’t it bother you that Golovkin is moving up in weight for the first time in his career, wouldn’t that play bad for him?

I don’t know, he’s also old. Perhaps this will play even better, because he should not exhaust himself with some kind of trim. I don’t know how Gena is with weight, but usually, when you get older, it’s harder for you to do weight. Therefore, it is probably even better for Gena.

– Another fight should be announced – this is Bivol – Ramirez. What can you say about this fight? Do you know Ramirez, have you seen him, maybe sparred?

– And I know, and I saw, and sparred. But I sparred for a long time. Somewhere, probably, in 2015-2016. Good boxer. I can’t say that he then impressed me with some kind of power or something else. In principle, in sparring, I did well with him. He is peculiar. Now he is completely different. He’s in a different weight class. Tall, with long arms. So this is an interesting fight. And not the fact that it is easy for Bivol. I think Bivol can beat him, but I don’t think it will be a cakewalk for him. I can’t say that it will be some kind of hell for him. Ramirez is passable, it seems to me. It is not easy, but it is passable.

– Ramirez shows 79 kg on the scales, and in battle he is already almost 92 kg.

– I don’t know how he did 76 kg. He then came, the impression that he was twice as big as me. It seems that you are standing with a cruiser at that moment. Now, compared to Bivol, it will be much larger.

– Do you see Bivol’s victory in a difficult battle?

– I think yes. Ramirez is hardly the one who can be simply fooled, once hit and knocked out. It is unlikely that Bivol will be able to do this. Still, a trained boxer, very experienced. But then there is another option for the inconvenience of styles. He is taller, he is also left-handed, he has long arms, he works in combination. I repeat, this does not mean that he cannot be beaten, but he will ask problems, I think. And it is not a fact that Bivol will be easy with him. Again, because of the styles.
