Dominican Hector Luis Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs) partially lost his sight after one of the blows missed by American Gervonta Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) at the end of the eighth round. This is what caused the stoppage of the fight, which became the main event of the last boxing evening in Washington (USA).
Recall that Garcia was unable to continue the resistance and at the beginning of the 9th segment, Davis was proclaimed the winner by technical knockout.
“After I missed a blow to the head in the last (eighth) round, I could no longer see with one eye. I didn’t know where I was when he hit me with that punch. Now my vision is back, but my head still hurts. I couldn’t see with my right eye. And up to this point, everything was going well, ”said Garcia.
