The undisputed lightweight champion American Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) is forced to give revenge to the holder of all belts, Australian George Kambosos Jr. (20-1, 10 KOs) – they will fight on Sunday in Melbourne (Australia). The first fight between them took place here in the summer – Haney won by decision of the judges.

On the eve of the second fight, Haney was asked to comment on rumors about a possible duel with the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) – is he going to pull, wait until the age Ukrainian finally grows old.

Answer champion: “Dudes, this shit is not my style. To tell the truth, I don’t care at all whether I keep him waiting or not. Now all my thoughts are connected with the rematch with Kambosos. If everything goes well, if it turns out that I am still comfortable with limiting this weight, then we can talk about it. I’m sorry, what? Is everyone waiting for me in lightweight? Come on! There is no need for all this. In fact, they are all waiting for me to drop my belts and rise above.

Previously, Haney was the mandatory challenger for Lomachenko, but he avoided the fight by asking the WBC for franchise champion status. The American claims that he remembers everything, but does not think about revenge: “This is boxing. They don’t play by the rules here. I remember he made me wait a long time for my title shot. But no, I’m not going to answer him the same. Like I said before, that’s not what I need. I need the most solid fights, the toughest opponents. I’m here for the heritage. That’s the only thing that matters to me.”

Haney reminds me that “I’m really big for that weight. And I’m getting bigger. Let’s see how long I can defend my belts before I have to go higher. That is, I do not stay for the sake of any particular fight. It all depends not on the level of the proposed opposition, but on how my body behaves. Who do I need to beat here to prove something to someone? I beat the head boar of the division. The one who beat the previous boar. I could already move up in weight and avoid a rematch. But I really want to stay here longer.”

Earlier, Haney explained why the fight with Lomachenko is more real than with Davis. Kambosos was silent for a long time, and then gave an entertaining speech about the PlayStation, the mattress, idiots and chess.
