UFC 253 tournament bout
On the night of September 26-27, “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi (UAE) will host the UFC 253 pay-per-view tournament. The entire bet on PPV sales was made by matchmakers for two title fights. In the main event, undefeated middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will take on fellow undefeated contender Paulo Costa. But the co-main event, which will determine the new light heavyweight king, is no less intriguing. And some of the rest of the show’s fights can be a pleasant surprise in terms of intrigue and drama.
In one of the fights of the main card of the tournament, fans are waiting for the duel between Canadian featherweight Davoda and close friend Khabib Nurmagomedov Tukhugov.
In September 2019, at UFC 242, Tukhugov returned to the cage after almost 3.5 years of inactivity, which resulted in two of his disqualifications – one for doping, the other for participating in a fight after Nurmagomedov’s fight with Conor McGregor. Tukhugov broke up with Leron Murphy, and in February he won his first victory since 2015, knocking out Kevin Aguilar in the opening round.
Davodu after a disastrous debut in the UFC in 2018 (lost by choke in 39 seconds to Danny Henry) only wins. His white streak is four victories, the most recent being last November when the Calgary fighter defeated Julio Arce via split decision.
Prediction for the fight
Tukhugov is a very good grappler who does not rely on the ground. On the stand, Tukhugov’s skills are relatively mediocre, but he can make up for it with a knockout punch.
Davodu is a basic Muay Thai fighter who has achieved some success in this sport. In the stance, he sees his clear advantage in this fight. He works well with both hands and feet. If Davodu does not allow Tukhugov to use his sambo skills, then he has a good chance of winning the fight by decision.
