IBF/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) said he was “thinking nothing” when he looked into the eyes of eternal rival Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) during the time of the recent duel of views at the next press event dedicated to their third fight.
He assured that he approaches this fight against the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) in the same way as he approaches any of his fights – “responsibly”.
When ESNews asked Golovkin where he ranked Alvarez in the pound-for-pound rating, he replied: “I have no idea. I don’t think about it at all. So much attention to think about. I know that he lost the last fight. So what else is there to talk about? He has more losses than me. What else to talk about?
Alvarez on Golovkin: I hate that bastard!
When asked how he perceives Saul’s statements that he would allegedly send Golovkin to retire, GGG chuckled and said that he “doesn’t feel anything at all.”
“The dog barks, the caravan moves on,” added the Kazakhstani.
He did not want to turn to Canelo: “What will I tell him? I looked at him – what should he say? Everything I wanted to say to him, I told him. If he thinks that I said something bad, then let him think so. We looked at each other, and if we wanted to say something, we would have said it. He doesn’t say anything face to face.”
The meeting will take place on September 17 in Las Vegas (USA).
Yesterday Gennady called Canelo a cheater. Earlier, the Mexican said he intended.
