Kazakh world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) said that he was even more disappointed in the Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) after his lost fight to Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) at the beginning of May.
And the point here is not even the fact of the defeat itself, but the reaction of Canelo, who, after the final gong, showed confidence in his victory, despite the fact that de facto he was a little better by strength in several separate rounds.
“I didn’t watch the fight (Alvarez-Bivol) in full, only cutting the best moments, and I saw that Dmitry had the upper hand,” said Golovkin. “When Canelo reacted to the outcome of the fight, I was disappointed in him. Because if you are a professional boxer, then you know boxing, you know its inner side.
“How can you react like that? How can you be sure that you have won a fight after losing only one or two rounds? asks Gennady. “How can you say that when so many people support you, so many people show interest in you. It’s just not fair. And I would like to take this opportunity to once again congratulate Dmitry Bivol on his victory.”
Recall that Golovkin and Alvarez will fight for the third time on September 17 in Las Vegas.
