Former UFC Welterweight Championship contenders Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal will be the second big event at UFC 287 on April 8 in Brooklyn.
Representatives of the organization officially announced the organization of the fight.
Gilbert Burns, 36, got his career back on track a week ago at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro by defeating Neil Magny via arm triangle choke. Thus, the Brazilian closed the defeat from Khamzat Chimaev, to whom he lost by unanimous decision in April last year.
38-year-old Jorge Masvidal suffered three defeats in a row, after two unsuccessful attempts to take the championship belt from Kamaru Usman, losing by unanimous decision to Colby Covington.
Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal are currently ranked fifth and eleventh in the UFC welterweight division, respectively.
The main event of UFC 287 will be a middleweight title rematch between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya.
