Top promoter from the UK Eddie Hearn fully supports the fight between the Americans Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs), anticipating a big event and hoping that the boxers’ sides will be able to strike hands.
Recall that Davis currently owns a minor WBA lightweight title (up to 61.2 kg), while Garcia made a successful debut at 63.5 kg at the end of last week, stopping Javier Fortuna.
“Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis is a powerful fight,” Hearn says in an interview.
DAZNas if we didn’t know without him. — These are two different fan bases. It’s just a cool mix of styles, personalities, storytelling. I hope these guys can meet in the ring. I really hope. I think Ryan will take this fight. And I don’t see why Gervonta wouldn’t want to accept it. I’m sure he thinks he can beat Garcia confidently. In general, I hope all parties involved can arrange everything.”
At the same time, Eddie noted that it does not matter at what weight the boxers agree to fight – in light, super light or, possibly, intermediate. Just as the titles at stake do not matter. “The main thing is that the fight takes place,” he insists.
The day before, Garcia said that he would first kick Davis, and then Lomachenko, Lopez and Haney.
