UFC on ESPN 41 tournament bout

The fight will take place on August 14 in San Diego (California, USA) at the Pechanga Arena and will become part of the main card of the UFC on ESPN 41 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 02:00 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.

Brazilian middleweight Bruno Silva (22-7) will face American UFC veteran Gerald Meerschaert (34-15) in a cage.

Silva has to close the only defeat in the UFC. In March, he lost a one-sided decision to his compatriot Alex Pereira, breaking a streak of seven victories by knockout, three of which were won in the UFC.

Mershart also ended his winning streak in the last fight. He consecutively defeated Bartosz Fabinski, Makhmud Muradov and Dustin Stoltzfuss by submission, but in April Meerschaert lost on points to Krzysztof Jotko without any questions.

Prediction for the fight

Mershart’s strength in this fight will undoubtedly be the ground. Gerald is a very dangerous grappler, and Silva, on the contrary, has big gaps in this component.

But Silva is the most powerful striker, and Meerschaert is already weakly holding blows. The Brazilian is a very tough striker and can finish an opponent with any of his accented hits. Considering that Mershart was knocked out twice at the start of the fight a couple of years ago, there may be a repetition of such a scenario, and Gerald simply will not have time to use his trump cards.

In any case, we see Silva as a big favorite in this pair. He is physically strong and can quite successfully defend against Meershart’s takedowns, which are not particularly delicate in the legs.

Silva wins by knockout in the 1st round
