Kazakhstan’s WBA / IBF middleweight champion (up to 72.6 kg) Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) is sure that it will not be a problem for him to have another fight against the Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2- 2, 39 KOs) in the new super middle category (up to 76.2 kg).

Gennady shared his expectations in connection with the upcoming new experience with
boxing scene.

“In general, there is no difference, the same thing,” Golovkin answered the question about the difference between fights in middleweight and super middleweight, “I feel absolutely comfortable. I’ll be honest with you, for me it’s just another contender. I asked myself, “Do I feel differently?” The answer is “no”. I’m 100% comfortable in the new division.”

At the same time, Gennady did not find an unequivocal answer to the question of whether his striking power would be preserved with the transition to a higher weight:

“Let’s see. I believe that. But we will be in a new situation. We need to try ourselves. It’s hard to talk about it now because it will be my first super middleweight fight. We will do everything to prepare for this division, but let’s not predict.”

“I don’t know Canelo at 76.2 kg. I know him at 72.6 kg,” the Kazakhstani noted. – We will not just fight in middleweight. I understood something about him, and he understood something about me, but it was at 72.6 kg. Now we will try at 76.2 kg.”

Recall that the third fight between Alvarez and Golovkin is scheduled for September 17 in Las Vegas (USA).

Golovkin was recently asked where in pound he would put Canelo Alvarez.
