Gaziev declined to continue his fight with Rosenstrike in the UFC

Dagestan native Shamil Gaziev suffered his first professional defeat in his second fight under the banner of the world’s strongest league, losing early to Suriname’s Jairzinho Rosenstrike in the main event of UFC Fight Night 238 in Las Vegas.

In the first two rounds, the heavyweight representing Bahrain tried to press his opponent, while Rosenstrike, on the contrary, moved a lot and worked his jab effectively, thwarting Gaziev’s attempts to shorten the distance.

In the third round, the confident “Big Boi Boy” began to work in a more varied manner, while Gaziev, on the contrary, slowed down and looked confused, and in the fourth five minutes the fight turned into a one-sided beating.

At the break, Shamil Gaziev informed his corner that he could not continue the fight because he could not see out of one eye, and as a result, referee Mark Goddard made the decision to stop the fight, recording a victory for Jairzinho Rosenstrike by technical knockout.

In an interview after the match, the Surinamese fighter, who brought his career back on track after an early loss to Jailton Almeida, said he plans to return to the octagon this summer and is ready to face any top UFC heavyweight.
