AMC Fight Nights League President Kamil Gadzhiev spoke about the situation his league found itself in when it became known that middleweight Vyacheslav Vasilevsky would not be able to fight against Marcio Santos.
He will be replaced by the famous Russian heavyweight Alexander Emelianenko.
“Vasilevsky should have announced a little earlier that he would not be able to fight. Anything can happen, but if you get sick, you get sick. If he had made it clear in advance, then we could look for some options. Yesterday and the day before yesterday, we found ourselves in a terrible situation, ”Gadzhiev said in an interview with SE.
“Now the main thing is that Santos and Alexander Emelianenko — both were alive and well, ready for battle,” Gadzhiev continued. – The fight will take place in the open weight category. For Santos, of course, this is not a problem. He will weigh about 20 kg less, but on the other hand, he has his own arguments – he had a good camp. Emelianenko did not prepare specifically for this fight. And for this, a special thank you to him, since he did not ask for a delay, but said: “I will go out and fight.”
Emelianenko and Santos will fight in the main event of the AMC Fight Nights 106 tournament, which will be held on November 27 in Syktyvkar.
In his last fight, which took place on September 18 in the Nashe Delo pop-MMA organization, Emelianenko defeated blogger Artem Tarasov by unanimous decision. On account of the 40-year-old Emelianenko in MMA 28 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw.
The 32-year-old Santos has 16 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw.
