John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs), wants Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) to win a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs). This fight will take place on August 20, and John is hoping that his compatriot will win.

The Ukrainian won the first fight on points in September 2021.

“I just want AJ to succeed,” Fury dad honestly told Pro Boxing Fans, although he had previously criticized AJ for what the world was worth.

The reason is “because it’s better than what you see.”

“He just needs the right people around him. I always have time for AJ: he gave us some great boxing nights, didn’t shy away from anyone and fought everyone. Whoever is put in front of him,” John said.

“Yeah, okay, he lost, but he boxed, didn’t he? So give the guy his due,” Fury Sr. added. “He’s still very young, and I believe that with his size and strength, a little more gas and a little more use of brains, he can take the title for the third time.”

And then, says the WBC champion’s father, “who knows?”

“Maybe then the big ‘Gypsy King’ will return! But good luck Anthony, he’s a good guy,” John Fury repeated.

Puncher Wilder preferred the Ukrainian in a rematch with Joshua.
