Fury vs. Usyk, Joshua’s money-hungry, meeting with McGregor – Hearn on boxing events

Famous British promoter Eddie Hearn (Matchroom) gave
interview for local media.

The journalist asked the functionary about his thoughts about the upcoming fight for the title of absolute champion of the heavyweight division (over 90.7 kg) between the unified champion in three versions from Ukraine Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and the WBC title holder Briton Tyson Fury (33 -0-1, 24 KOs). Also in the conversation, Hearn spoke about the contradictions in his words and the words of former British champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs), answered a question about negotiations with former US champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) , told about the meeting with the former UFC champion in two categories Irishman Conor McGregor and gave answers to other questions.

– There is no announcement of the duel between Fury and Usyk yet. What do you know?

— Every time I express my opinion, people then roll a barrel at me. My opinion as a fan is that I don’t believe the fight will take place in England. I think Tyson Fury will want a much bigger percentage of the royalties section because commercially he’s a lot more valuable than Usyk. But in terms of divisional alignment and what’s fair, a 50/50 deal will close immediately. Fury is very quiet. Obviously, when we were negotiating against Joshua, there was a social media deadline every day. But maybe that means the deal is close to closing. I have no idea. I really do not know. I said in an interview that we are ready to agree to a Joshua-Fury fight in the summer if Joshua beats Franklin on April 1st.

Do you think their side wants it?

— I think they want to. This is a huge fight. Much more than with Usyk. Much bigger commercially, in terms of fees, all over.

If not Usyk. Fury names next opponent

– Joe Joyce in the same promotion, maybe with him?

“It’s the tenth of a Joshua-Fury fight and he doesn’t own the title. So Fury would be absolutely perfect for us. We would make a deal right now. Fury can fight on April 29 if he wants to. Look, I understand that the fight for the title of absolute champion is important for people. I hope they make it.

There are contradictions in your words and Joshua’s. You said legacy is part of his comeback, but he mentioned money. Did it surprise you?

“Money is important to these fighters, right. And Joshua always makes sure he gets the best deal he can get. I didn’t buy it completely. Legacy is important. I know he wants to be world champion again. Maybe it’s a way to take some pressure off of yourself. But also I think it’s time to be selfish. He gives a lot to the sport, and this is a very important moment in his career.

– Do I need to renegotiate the agreement with DAZN to allow Joshua to perform not on PPV?

– No.

Does Deontay Wilder respond to offers? Have you sent enough?

– No comments. No no. I mean, he communicates with everyone. We’d love to see Deontay Wilder here. We have a bit of a shady history with him, but he’s a great fighter, great personality, and we’ll see what happens.

Will Wilder replace Usyk against Fury? What will happen, Warren knows

You say he communicates with everyone. Does he speak to you?

“Not necessarily with me. We don’t have to be part of everyone else.

– Eubank Jr activated the condition for a rematch against Smith. Your thoughts?

– I don’t know who had a condition for a rematch there: Eubank or Wasserman – I don’t know. I don’t think he can beat Liam Smith. But I believe he doesn’t have many options right now. Of course, while we are waiting for a decision on Connor Bain from the WBC.

– You recently met with Conor McGregor. I don’t believe you haven’t discussed getting him to fight, especially since he’s coming back at super middleweight and Canelo Alvarez is fighting at super middleweight. Eddie, tell me.

– Not really. Look, he has a contract with the UFC. Dana White is a friend of mine and we haven’t spoken to him about this business. It was just interesting for me to be around Conor, he has a great energy. He is a huge star. I’m not ashamed to talk about it.

– The winner of the fight Jake Paul – Tommy Fury will appear in the WBC ratings. An interesting move.

“Commercially, I understand that. I don’t think any of them deserve this place, but this is boxing. They have a good fight. Of course, the winner will be invincible, and there are enough fighters in the top 15 rankings of the sanctioning organizations who do not deserve to be there.

How much Paul and Fury will earn per fight. Spoiler: millions of dollars

— When will the decision on Connor Benn be released?

– I have no idea at all. I was told that it would be 10 days ago, I was told that it would be a week ago. We’re just waiting. I would like it to appear now, but there’s nothing we can do but wonder, “Where is it?”

– Did you communicate with Mauricio (Suleiman)?

“I’m not in charge of this business with the WBC. Connor Benn and his lawyers are doing it. Our team communicated with Mauricio, not me personally. Let’s see. We are looking forward to a decision.
