Alamodome, San Antonio, USA. Lightweight prospect (up to 61.2 kg) American Frank Martin (16-0, 12 KOs) knocked out a late replacement in the late rounds in the person of Dominican Jackson Marines (19-3, 7 KOs).
The underdog had two defeats in a row before this fight: first he was robbed in a fight against Rolando Romerothen boxed well with Richard Commeybut lost by knockout.
The fight began with a competitive jabbing shootout. Southpaw Martin shook Marinez’s head in the second round with a straight left, but he did not have a total superiority. And the chess confrontation in the ring slightly tired the assembled fans – at times they buzzed with displeasure.

Marines increasingly occupied the center of the ring and countered Martin’s attacking attempts, at times acting ahead of the curve. He relied on speed, breaking the body of the opponent. The first half of the fight turned out to be as competitive as possible, but the favorite gradually increased the speed and density of the fight. And starting from the 7th round, he also began to pour combinations, shocked his opponent with two straight lefts in a row.
In the 9th round, Marines picked up blows (it all started with a right hook) and visited the canvas 10 seconds before the gong. At the very beginning of the next three minutes, Martin had another right hook. He pinned his opponent against the ropes and began to bomb with blows. Marines fell hard on the canvas of the ring, and the referee immediately recorded the victory of the prospect.

Martin TKO 10.
The prospect has the highest hit percentage (especially with power punches), but still makes a lot of illogical decisions throughout the fight.
In an early preliminary card, American welterweight (up to 66.7 kg) Rashidi Ellis (24-0, 15 KOs) coped with a late replacement in the face of a Mexican journeyman
Jose Marrufo (13-11-2, 1 KO).
The fight ended in the opening round after the underdog was twice on the fifth spot. The referee decided to stop the one-sided fight.
Ellis TKO 1.
In the bantamweight limit (up to 53.5 kg), American Ramon Cardenas (21-1, 10 KOs) beat compatriot Michell Bankes (20-2, 14 KOs).
The fight went the whole distance, it turned out to be competitive. Judges’ verdict: 96-94 and twice 97-93.
