Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has addressed words of gratitude to current titleholder, Jon Jones, who at the PFL and Bellator co-main event in Riyadh warmly greeted the Cameroonian heavyweight’s mother by hugging the woman and kissing her hand.
“Putting aside the rivalry, I just want to say that you were very respectful to greet my mom like that, John. Big respect!” the Predator wrote on social media, posting a related video.
Recall that Jon Jones attended the event as an invited guest, while Francis Ngannou, who has a contract with the PFL league in hand, was interested in the main event superfight between Ryan Bader and Henan Ferreira, in which his opponent in MMA was determined.
However, the Cameroonian will have his next fight not in mixed martial arts, but in boxing, and if he manages to defeat Britain’s Anthony Joshua on March 8, the former UFC champion will become the main candidate for the world’s absolute heavyweight boxing title, which will be decided in the confrontation between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik.
As for Jon Jones, he plans to make a defense of his championship belt against former division champion, Stipe Miocic, as soon as he recovers from injury.
