Francis Ngannou lost by knockout to Anthony Joshua

Former WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua left no chance for Francis Ngannou, knocking out the former UFC titleholder in the second round at a boxing night in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.

Before falling to a muffled knockout, “The Predator” was knocked down twice, in the first and second rounds, unable to react in time to the Brit’s lightning-fast straight right jab. The third knockdown, which occurred at the 2:38 mark, put a bright spot in this fight, and the medical team had to bring the Cameroonian to consciousness with the help of an oxygen mask for several more minutes.

In an interview after the fight Anthony Joshua said that he wants to see his next opponent the absolute world champion in heavyweight boxing, which will be determined on May 18 in the fight between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik. The Briton and the Ukrainian, who hold the main heavyweight championship belts, will unify the titles at the same Kingdome Arena in Riyadh, where the fight between Joshua and Ngannou took place.

Recall that in October last year Francis Ngannou made his professional boxing debut, losing by split decision to Tyson Fury after ten rounds, with the “Gypsy King” being knocked down in the third round.
