The team of former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua is interested in a fight against former UFC title holder Francis Ngannou, who left the world’s strongest league as a free agent.
This was announced in an interview with Fight Hub TV by the British promoter, Eddie Hearn.
“Anthony Joshua’s priority is to become world champion,” Hearn said. “I have already spoken to Francis Ngannou. AJ will be back in the ring on April 1st and we could have a fight with Ngannou this summer. It’s going to be a huge event, but we’ll see how it all pans out. I like Francis. He is a wonderful person and is in a very advantageous position.”
Earlier, the teams of Derek Chisora and Tyson Fury announced their interest in a duel with the Cameroonian heavyweight, and the promoter of the latter, Frank Warren, did not rule out that the Predator could become the next rival of the Gypsy King if they fail to agree on a fight against Oleksandr Usyk.
The departure of Francis Ngannou from the biggest mma promotion three weeks ago was officially confirmed by UFC President Dana White, who announced that Jon Jones and Cyril Gun would play for the vacant championship belt on March 4 at UFC 285 in Las Vegas.
Former WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua suffered two consecutive losses, losing by unanimous and then split decision to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
