Francis Ngannou breaks down Jon Jones vs Cyril Gan fight

Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, shared his opinion on the fight between Jon Jones and Cyril Gan, in which the American finished the Frenchman by guillotine choke in two minutes and won the vacant title left by the Cameroonian.

“I knew that if Jon Jones came out with a good mental attitude, not like in the last two fights, he would win this fight, but I didn’t think it would be so fast,” said the “Predator” in a video posted on his channel on YouTube. “I was expecting this fight to last longer and I was surprised. It was a surprise to me how it ended. And judging by Cyril’s reaction, he was no less surprised, because he did not even try to defend himself. He didn’t think a submission could be made from such a position.”

“John put on a great performance. I can’t say that his victory surprised me too much – I knew that if I could overcome Cyril, John would be a different story. If John lay down on him, Cyril would have had a very hard time, but I noticed that John was in a hurry. He didn’t want to give Cyril space – I think he was afraid of something. Perhaps John thought that he would get tired and not be able to grab Cyril, so he immediately began to pursue him. His plan worked very well, but it tells me that John was not very sure of himself, and therefore he was in a hurry.

According to Ngannou, he regrets that the fight with Jones did not take place, and does not believe that in the future they will be able to share the cage.

“This is an interesting fight that I would like to have, but unfortunately we are in different places. This fight did not take place, and probably will never take place, because he has a long-term contract with the UFC, which means this fight will never happen.

Earlier, UFC President Dana White categorically ruled out the possibility that Francis Ngannou, who left the organization as a free agent at the beginning of this year, could return to the roster of the strongest league in the world.
