Former UFC champion Jamal Hill arrested for assaulting his brother

Former UFC bantamweight champion, Jamal Hill, was arrested by Michigan police this past Monday on domestic violence charges, TMZ Sports reports.

According to the police report, Hill was released the same day after prosecutors formally charged him with aggravated domestic violence. The victim, who suffered “serious injuries,” is listed as James Anthony Hill Jr. allegedly being the brother of the former UFC champion.

Jamal Hill is scheduled to appear for a court hearing next January.

In January this year, 32-year-old Jamal Hill won the vacant UFC bantamweight championship belt by defeating Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision, but in July the American was forced to vacate the title after tearing his Achilles tendon while playing basketball.

The UFC’s plan is for Hill to challenge the division’s new champion, Alex Pereira, who won the vacant belt in November by finishing Jiri Prohazka by second-round TKO.
