Former WEC and UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is in talks to fight pro boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr in Abu Dhabi later this year.
This was announced by the coach and manager of the Brazilian, Andre Pederneiras.
“Negotiations are really moving forward,” the Brazilian specialist told Sherdog in an interview. “We hope that the contract will be signed before we have our next fight against Jeremy Stevens on April 1st. We don’t have a date yet, but we already know the fight will take place in Abu Dhabi.”
Floyd Mayweather, 45, will fight his next exhibition fight on February 25 in London against reality TV star Aaron Chalmers, while Jose Aldo, 39, made a successful boxing debut earlier this month with a decision win over Emmanuel Zambrano.
The duel between Jose Aldo and Jeremy Stevens will take place as part of the Gamebred Boxing 4 tournament, which will be headlined by the fight between Anthony Pettis and Roy Jones Jr.
