Shelly Finkel, the manager of former WBC heavyweight champion American puncher Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs), claims that they are very interested in a duel with WBA Super, IBF and WBO belt holder Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).
Last week, the manager of the Ukrainian Egis Klimas said that Usyk would not fight Fury, but Wilder. This is how the boxer’s team reacted to the negotiations between WBC champion Tyson Fury and former WBA Super, IBF and WBO belt holder Anthony Joshua.
Finkel commented these words: “Recently, we learned that if the fight between Fury and Joshua takes place, Usyk will meet with Wilder. Yes, we are ready for this. We do not mind”.
Usyk scored two victories in a row over Joshua: first in September in Britain he took away the belts, then in August in Saudi Arabia pulled out a victory in a rematch.
The Ukrainian dreamed of determining the absolute world champion in a face-to-face fight with Fury, but is not ready to fight until the end of the year due to an injury. For this reason, Tyson was offered a contract to fight Anthony – he agreed.
The fans tensed, because the chatty Fury suddenly fell silent? What’s up with the Joshua fight? Says champion promoter Frank Warren. And Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Boxing told in detail about how the negotiations between Fury and Joshua were conducted.
