The fight for the title of absolute welterweight champion between the Americans Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) and Terence Crawford (38-0. 29 KOs) is on the verge of collapse, informs columnist Dan Rafael.
“According to rumors, negotiations are dragging on,”
writes an insider. — I was told that all the fuss is because of Crawford’s attempt to move the date of the fight to December. A person directly involved in the negotiations told me on Wednesday that the fight would definitely not take place in December. November or there will be no deal.”
Crawford is the reigning WBO champion, and all the other top division belts are in the hands of Spence.
Earlier on the sidelines there were rumors that in the event of a breakdown in the negotiation process, Spence would make a mandatory defense through the WBC – it was for this purpose that the organization suddenly gave the 1st number in the top 15 to the former unified world champion American Keith Thurman.
He recently made an interesting speech: he volunteered to replace Crawford or Spence if necessary. And Thurman agreed to fight Conor Benn in England.
